Farming With Horses

With all of the much needed rain this new year we have been busy planting our grain which should give us a nice crop of Forage mix hay, wheat, oats, & barley. The last 3 years was a big loss due to the lack of rain. Tommy is discing with our 3 Belgians and a mule. We take in mules & horses that are already trained, they just need to be worked, of course we are still training mules & horses.
The other 2 pictures are of Tommy & Cactus seeding with the grain drill. The 4 abreast mules
belong to Roger Haley of the Haley Ranch. His mules & wagons are available for parades and special promotions. They were driven in the 2009 Paso Robles Pioneer Day Parade, hauling Miss Rodeo California & Miss Rodeo Salinas.

Photo Shoot On Site

On October 6, Founder & Director, Syl Arena of Paso Robles Workshops brought Joe McNally & the "Hot Shoe Diaries" photography workshop out to Harris Stage Lines to use us as a location shoot. Joe McNally is an internationally acclaimed photographer, whose career has spanned 30 years and included assignments in over 50 countries. Although the majority of his career has been spent shooting for magazines such as Time, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic, in the mid-1990s Joe served as Life magazine’s staff photographer, the first one in 23 years. He also has shot commercial assignments for Target, Nikon, and Sony, to name a few. Joe is a recipient of several prestigious awards. We provided some wardrobe, horses, & a few models for the photography students to use at the different sites of our property. It was very educational to watch Mr McNally show the students how to create the correct lighting for their subject & location. In this picture of our Morgan horse, Molly, is Mr. McNally on the right, helping to get the correct lighting onto a black horse inside our old barn. We are always available to provide our horses and horse drawn equipment for the film industry. We have enjoyed training & preparing our horses for the different enviroments used in the film industry, and also working with the actors, models, etc.
